MARY ELLEN JONES

Home Care Connection
Retiree, Business Owner

I moved to Bonita Springs full time in 2017 after having lived in southeastern PA my entire life.

My career for many years was in senior living sales and marketing with responsibility for building and maintaining census goals for the community. That was accomplished through external marketing to potential referral sources via presentations, networking and events; and internal sales working with end users. I was also responsible for department budgets, supervising support personnel, developing collateral materials and working with a team of department heads to ensure resident satisfaction.

The last ten years of my career were spent as a small business owner. I owned and operated a non medical homecare registry, providing home health aides and nursing assistants to primarily elderly clients who needed assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, light housework, meals, etc.). This involved hiring and supervision of aides, developing collaterals, external marketing via cold calling and following up with established referral sources. Customer care was first and foremost and I was in frequent contact with clients and their families to make sure standards were met and surpassed.

For the past two years, I’ve been volunteering for Path2Freedom–prior to that, I volunteered with the SWFL Coalition Against Human Trafficking. While both are doing great work, Path is a better fit because there are concrete results–providing real services to the rescued girls.

I volunteered for many years with Make a Wish Foundation in the Philadelphia area, working with the children and their families to find out what their wish was and delivering the final package to them.

I have also been politically active with local and national campaigns/issues for many years.
