Meet Maya

A thoughtful 14-year-old, Maya’s gentle spirit and quiet determination tell a powerful story of resilience. During her interview process, Maya was most excited about family outings – a simple joy that spoke volumes about her desire for normalcy and safe exploration of the world around her.

With dreams of becoming an anesthesiologist, she finds comfort in quiet spaces, as loud noises can still trigger memories of her difficult past.. Her journey to Path2Freedom wasn’t easy – coming from a background where she wasn’t believed by those who should have protected her most.

When Maya first saw her bedroom, she jumped up and down in disbelief, asking repeatedly if it was really hers. Though naturally timid and shy, she was warmly welcomed by the other girls who invited her for a swim in the pool. At Path2Freedom, she will discover that being loved isn’t just a promise – it’s a daily reality as our mentors show the love of Christ to this hurting child.

Meet Eden

Eden is a vibrant 17-year-old whose journey to stability represents the power of perseverance and the right environment. When Eden first arrived at Path2Freedom over a year ago, she was stepping down from a higher level of care and had a history of frequently running away from programs. Today, she holds the distinction of staying with us longer than anywhere else – a testament to both her growth and our commitment to meeting her where she is.

As the first resident to arrive at our second safe house, Eden has embraced her role as both pioneer and mentor. Her natural leadership shines brightest when she leads worship at youth group, where her joyful spirit and authentic faith inspire others. Yet she’s also beautifully, authentically seventeen – capable of infectious laughter one moment and typical teenage moodiness the next when asked to do chores or told ‘no.’

Eden’s dedication to her future is evident in her recent achievement of passing her driver’s permit test and her commitment to working closely with her life coach. She takes special care in helping younger, more vulnerable girls navigate their own healing journeys, offering the kind of peer support that only someone who’s walked this path can provide.

With big plans for her future, Eden is working hard toward her goals and looking forward to participating in our Transition Program when she turns eighteen. Her transformation from a girl who couldn’t stay anywhere to a young woman planning her future demonstrates that with the right support, time, and environment, even the most restless hearts can find their home.

Meet Annie

When 14 year old Annie arrived at Magnolia House, she found more than a home, she found a family. “The house parents and aunts treat us like their own kids,” she says. “I feel loved, safe, and comforted here. The adults are like my parents and the girls are like my sisters.”

Her time at Magnolia House has inspired personal growth. “Being around good people has changed my mindset. I want to do good things for my life, graduate high school, go to college, and become a traveling children’s nurse. I’ve become more open and confident interacting with others, and I am forever thankful to be part of Path2Freedom.”

Faith has also become central to Annie’s life. “Committing my life to Jesus and being baptized was a very special moment. It comforted me and released me from my past. I waited for that day my whole life, and it changed me.”

Education has given her a new path. “I like homeschooling because the tutor helps me catch up and learn at my own pace. Education is really important because I want to grow into the life I dream of.”

Through love, guidance, and faith, Annie has embraced a future full of hope, ready to build the life she always imagined.

Meet Jasmin

Jasmin arrived at Path2Freedom’s safe house after a long journey, starting in Guatemala, marked by hardship and the kind of experiences that bring young survivors to our doors. When she first joined us, Jasmin was significantly behind in school and faced the challenges of adapting to a new country, language, and learning environment.

Despite these obstacles, Jasmin showed remarkable determination. With the support of our grace-filled, trauma-informed team and the structure of our Safe House program, she began to rebuild her confidence and focus on her education. Jasmin’s progress wasn’t always easy, but her resilience stood out. She moved into our Aftercare Program, where she continued to discipline herself, pursue her academic goals, and live independently in one of our transition homes.

This year, Jasmin reached a milestone that once seemed out of reach. She graduated from high school. Her achievement is a testament to her courage and perseverance and to the hope that Path2Freedom strives to offer every survivor. We are incredibly proud of Jasmin and look forward to seeing all that she will accomplish in this new chapter.
